A solo Installation of pewter spin casting molds and 800 pieces of cast jewelry will represent the lost manufacturing companies of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. It will pay homage to the twenty-mile perimeter of Providence, RI, once known as the "jewelry capital of the world".
Due to Covid and cheaper labor from China, many jewelry manufacturing companies, like the W.E. Richards Company -in business for 122 years- fell to the gavel last year. This unique display of 400 augmented molds and cast jewelry from these molds will spin and swarm around the room, in perceived speed as a metaphor of our times.
Come join us to walk amongst these pieces of history!
