My Story

About the butterfly pendant:  In 2007 we decided to build an art car and were looking for a good idea that went along with that year's theme which was Greenman.  We came up with the idea of a huge 17' butterfly surrounded by a garden of flowers and mushrooms.  Working on it full time for 9 months got that butterfly permanently imbedded in my brain and ever since then they have held a special place in my heart. Of course the butterfly represents transformation and change, always a good thing for an artist.  I made the pendant as both a fundraiser perk and to give as gifts on the playa.  We were able to fund a nice portion our project from the proceeds of that little butterfly charm.  After seeing how fun it was to take my everyday skills as a jeweler and create something that so many people really loved, I got hooked on the idea of continuing to gift pendants every year.  I like the idea of them being theme related as I'm able to show my interpretation of the theme.

Art and creativity has been such a huge part of my life. I remember at the age of 5 or 6 saying to my dad " I want to be an artist when I grow up" not really even knowing what that meant.  From  making necklaces to sell to my classmates in elementary school  to getting a degree in design at a university it had been my lifelong journey. Today I work as a metalsmith but also work in mixed media making jewelry, clothing, leather goods and just about any other artistic endeavor one can imagine.  I'm always looking for the next thing that will inspire me.
