Do you love Jewelry?

Me too. You might say, I’m a jewelry evangelist. I have a passion for teaching others, so much that I built the school, Metalwerx and then the Artisan’s Asylum Jewelry Studio. I teach workshops all over the US. What will you find here on my blog? Look for cool stories of jewelry and tips, photography, cooking, jewelry fabrication, travel and books. This blog is about what makes me tick and the cool stuff that’s out in the world.

The Cowardly Gardner

While bicycling to work, I ride past bountiful victory gardens filled with ripe tomatoes, corn and beans. I admit, I’m jealous. I vowed to grow something this year, beyond the catnip in its little white container, that no matter where I place the damn thing, my cat always seems to consistently give it haircuts. This year I planted herbs. From my local grocery store, I procured three tiny pots of basil. About 6 inches tall, I gently lowered them into the ground and hoped for the best. Holy Basil Batman! I have a bush!

I love stones. These beautiful plummy, gemmy stones fill three drawers in my studio. Shall I make a pendant? Or perhaps a cool ring? Perhaps, I will make that Inca Headress. Guess I need to keep collecting stones.
